9-12 Science Courses Requirements & Course Approval.
High School Science Course Development and Approval: Physical Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Environmental Science, Anatomy & Physiology, and the AP Sciences have their own frameworks and do not need to have a course approval form submitted to the Arkansas Department of Education. Other science courses (Genetics, Botany, Zoology, Oceanography, International Baccalaurate Sciences, Active Physics, Geology, Astronomy, and Meteorology) will need a course submission. Earth Science is no longer an approved course for High School. School with this approval will have to reapply with a Geology course or choose another courses.
ASTA has develop Course Outlines and Connections to the
Science Frameworks for Botany, Zoology, Geology, and Astronomy.
These outlines are based on the Arkansas Department of Education's Science
Framework. The other science course mentioned above are rare, and schools
will need to develop their own outlines and connections.
