William Newton grew up and moved to Masons Grove, Tennessee, where his son Peyton Smith Hamilton was born. Peyton married twice, once to Jennett McCullouck, and once to Malinda Tosh of nearby Carroll County, TN. He later moved with his family to McCrory, Arkansas, where his son Edward settled and married. Edward was one of the signers of the incorporation papers of McCrory, owned a furniture store, and was a postmaster of the town.
