Funding Sources

To assist nonprofits with their fundraising efforts, Nonprofit Resources will maintain a list of links to foundations and other funding sources. We will keep the list as updated as possible, but as the Web continues to expand we may miss a few new sources. Please e-mail us if you notice any sites that should be included in this list. Most of the links below are for large foundations and will contain links to more sites. In particular check out The Foundation Center, which provides links to many foundations, and the Internet Prospector which reports on online research sources for nonprofit fund-raisers and provides constantly updated links. Organizations in the Mid-South region should investigate the Foundation for the Mid South, because of their dedication to nonprofits in Arkansas, Louisiana, and Mississippi.

About fundraising:

Fundraising can be a never-ending quest as the money runs out or as an organization expands beyond the support of existing resources. These pitfalls can be avoided by maintaining connections with multiple funding sources, and assuring that your organization receives funds from more than one source. Nonprofits should never rely solely on grants to keep them going, and should always look for new ways of funding for their operations. Nonprofit Resources encourages its members to establish a base of support within the community they are serving. This will ensure that the community will have a stake in the mission of the nonprofit, and the nonprofit can highlight this support when approaching funding sources.
