Bacon-Brown Sugar Brussels Sprouts by Steven Hicks Brussels sprouts; they look like little heads of cabbage. They are sweet and bursting with flavor when properly prepared. I had been looking for a good recipe for Brussels sprouts for a long time, when I spotted this recipe in the Christmas issue of a popular womens' magazine while waiting to see my doctor. I grabbed a sheet of scratch paper and quickly jotted down the recipe you see here.
Cook bacon in a Dutch oven over medium heat for 10 minutes or until crisp. Remove and drain on paper towels, then crumble. Add broth, brown sugar and salt to the bacon dripping in the Dutch oven. and bring to a boil. Stir in Brussels sprouts, cover and cook 6 - 8 minutes, until tender. Transfer to a serving bowl with slitted spoon and sprinkle with crumbled bacon. For more of my Favorite Recipes, click here!
